Newt Food and Salamander Food
In the wild, salamanders and newts live off of live food such as insects, crickets and worms and are strictly carnivores. Vegetation of any kind is quite unhealthy and dangerous to newts and salamanders because newts and salamanders are unable to digest plant materials and if ingested the plant will sit in the newt’s or salamander’s stomach and rot, causing ulcers to form. That being so, make sure to keep veggies away from your newts and salamanders.
Newt Food
All newt food and salamander food is swallowed whole, so feeding newt food and salamander food to your pet should be done in an appropriate size to ensure easy digestion. Live newt food and salamander food contains vital nutrients and promote good health and a strong immune system, but frozen foods and prepared newt food and salamander food are a great alternative. By creating a variety in newt food and salamander food you will prevent your newt or salamander from losing interest in a specific food item. Variety in your feeding of newt food and salamander food will promote good health by providing essential vitamins and nutrients to your newt or salamander.
Salamander Food
The food preference of your newt and salamander will differ from creature to creature, and the best way to find out what type of newt food and salamander food they like is by trial and error. Newts and salamanders rely on scent to find their food and often take time to smell it thoroughly before consuming it. When offering new newt food and salamander food, offer the particular newt food or salamander food for about a week and allow your newt or salamander to become properly acquainted with it.
Pet Newt Food
Overfeeding your newt or salamander can lead to obesity and other health issues, but generally speaking you can feed your newt and salamander every other day, keeping the portions small to prevent overfeeding. Any uneaten newt food and salamander food should be removed daily to prevent decay and contamination of your pet’s habitat. By experimenting on the newt food and salamander food portions is key; if they eat all their newt food and salamander food within, say, 5 minutes, increase the portions, and if it takes 15 minutes or longer to consume their newt food and salamander food, decrease the portions.
Pet Salamander Food
Commercially prepared newt food and salamander food consists of fakes and pellet food, and since newts and salamanders can’t digest plant material it is a terribly and even deadly idea to feed them any pet food product that contains plant material, such as fish related food products. Make sure that the portions of newt food and salamander food is small enough for the newt or salamander to swallow it whole, breaking up any newt food sticks or salamander food sticks into smaller, more manageable pieces.
