Mynah Food
What you feed your pet mynah is important. A good pet owner should be aware of everything going into their pet and it is especially important for mynahs. Sugary, salty and foods we consider to be ‘junk food’ should never be fed to a mynah as mynah food. 40 percent of your mynah’s diet will be mynah food such as fruits and veggies. When feeding fruits as mynah food remove the seeds because some of the seeds are toxic to mynahs. Highly acidic fruits should not be fed as mynah food. Green veggies are a great type of mynah food and mynahs enjoy any type of green bean.
Mynah Seeds
The mynah seeds sold by West Coast Pet Supply are designed especially for softbills and they make a great mynah seed. The mynah seeds are low in iron but high in nutrients, vitamins and minerals. The mynah seeds can be used as a complete diet, but we recommend the occasional fresh veggie and fruit, as long as they are safe to use as mynah food.
Mynah Pellets
The most important thing in a Mynah’s diet is too much iron. Too much iron in your pet mynah’s food can sicken the bird and even cause death. The best mynah diet you can have is to supply a low iron softbill pellet or mynah pellet. The commercially produced mynah pellets work the best and should be 50 to 60 percent of your mynah’s diet. Mynah pellets are loaded with protein, vitamins and minerals. There are mynah pellets designed especially for use as mynah food, but any soft-bill bird food will do, as long as it is low in iron.
