Hamster Cages for Sale
Buying your hamster a new home is the biggest expense in owning a hamster, but the hamster cage is important. Hamster cages come in many varieties. Take your time to look at all the options. Hamster cages should not be any smaller than 20 inches by 14 inches. Remember, your hamster will be spending most of its time in the hamster cage. If it is too small, you’ll have an unhappy hamster.
Hamster Cage
Hamster cages are usually made of wire with metal or plastic litter pans at the bottom. Hamster Cages are usually between one to three feet tall. If you have one of the smaller species of hamster, choose a cage that has very little space between the bars. Sometimes a mouse cage is a better choice for the smaller varieties.
Hamster Homes
You should fill your hamster cage with cage litter (usually wood chips). An exercise wheel is really important to have in your hamster cage. Hamsters have an enormous amount of energy that they need to expend and hamster wheels are designed to help them with this. A water bottle and other toys can easily be attached to the wire cage. Wire hamster cages are really the ideal hamster home. You might want to get some tubing to place in your hamster cage. Remember – in their natural habitat they like to live in burrows with tunnels. When you buy tubing, make sure you get tubing that is big enough for a full-grown hamster.
Hamster Enclosures
Hamster cages come in different styles. Some hamster cages are made from a series of plastic tubes that are connected. The problem with these hamster cages is that they tend to have a lot of round parts. Hamsters get disoriented without corners. Using something round is never a good idea. Another hamster cage idea is the aquarium. The disadvantage of this sort of hamster cage is that they are hard to clean and can be cumbersome. Also, you’ll need to buy a freestanding wheel, because the clip-on type is not suitable in this type of hamster cage.
