Ferret Litter Boxes

Ferrets can be litter box trained but it will take time, energy, effort, and lots of love. Although triangle shaped ferret litter boxes that sit in the corner are great for young and small ferrets, a ferret might find using the triangle shaped ferret litter pan awkward, as they grow older and larger. A rectangle shaped ferret litter box or ferret litter pan is the best, and even a cat litter box can work as well. Although for some ferrets it’s easier to use a ferret litter pan or ferret litter box that has one side slightly lower, they aren’t necessary and any litter box can work as a ferret litter box or ferret litter pan. Ferrets can hop and jump well enough to get into the ferret litter box.

Ferret Litter Pans

Most adult ferrets enjoy putting all four of their feet into their ferret litter pan or ferret litter box. There’s something about having the unique texture of the litter that give the ferret the litter box cue.
High-sided ferret litter boxes (with one low side) are very handy if you have a litter digger or litter kicker. Usually older ferrets don't do the over-the-side thing, but baby ferrets sometimes act as if it's a contest to see who can poop the highest.
